Welcome to New Canaan Lacrosse Association's 2024 Girls Fall Ball Clinic Registration

New Canaan Girls Laxers - 

The New Canaan High School girls lacrosse staff is thrilled to announce the 18th year of our NCLA Fall Ball Clinics. Join us to work with the #1 public school coaching staff in the country!  Coach Kristin Woods and her team will provide personalized instruction to enhance individual skills and teach fundamental team concepts.

 

Each clinic will cover key areas including cradling, dodging, ground balls, catching, throwing, shooting, 1 v 1 defense, and man-up/man-down situations. We’re excited to work with the future New Canaan Lady Rams. Please see the details below and don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions!

USA LACROSSE REQUIREMENT

You must first register with USA Lacrosse before registering with NCLA.  If you have not already signed up with USA Lacrosse, please follow these steps:

  • Step 1:  Obtain a USA Lacrosse Membership
    • IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A CURRENT USA LACROSSE MEMBERSHIP:  CLICK HERE
      •  Each athlete must have their own unique USA Lacrosse membership
    • TO LOOK UP/RENEW A USA LACROSSE MEMBERSHIP:  CLICK HERE
  • Step 2:  Return to this registration and proceed. Later in this registration session you will need to enter the USA Lacrosse Membership ID that you received in Step 1.

Your player must have a USA Lacrosse number valid through October 2024. This is required for insurance purposes and is not refundable.


NCLA GIRLS FALL BALL 2024

 

2nd, 3rd & 4th Grade Girls Clinics

Days:    Wednesday’s -  9/4, 9/11, 9/18, 9/25, 10/2

Time:    4:00-5:00PM

Place:   East Elementary

Age:      Girls currently in 2nd, 3rd & 4th grade

Cost:     $175

Equipment: Stick, goggles, mouth guard, cleats & water bottle

**Space is limited to 24 players per grade.  The girls will be grouped by grade and ability level. 

 

5th & 6th Grade Girls Clinics 

Dates:   Wednesday’s -  9/4, 9/11, 9/18, 9/25, 10/2

Time:    5:00-6:00PM

Place:   East Elementary School

Age:      Girls currently in 5th & 6th grade

Cost:     $175

Equipment: Stick, goggles, mouth guard, cleats & water bottle

**Space is limited to 24 players per grade.  The girls will be grouped by grade and ability level. 

 

7th/8th Grade Girls Clinics 

Dates:   Wednesday’s -  9/4, 9/11, 9/18, 9/25, 10/2

Time:    5:00-6:00PM

Place:   East Elementary School

Age:      Girls currently in 7th & 8th grade

Cost:     $175

Equipment: Stick, goggles, mouth guard, cleats & water bottle

**Space is limited to 24 players for 7th & 8th grades combined.  The girls will be grouped by grade and ability level.

Meet the Coaches

Coach Woods

Coach Woods has just wrapped up her 18th season at New Canaan High School, where she has achieved remarkable success. Under her leadership, the program clinched both FCIAC and STATE Championships in the 2024 and 2022 springs. In 2024, her team was recognized as the #1 public school in the country and was named Connecticut Team of the Year. That same year, Coach Woods was honored as the overall FCIAC Coach of the Year.
Previously, in 2018, she was named CTHSCA Coach of the Year. Her impressive coaching record stands at 282-68, with notable victories including Connecticut State Championships in 2024, 2022, 2021, 2018, 2016, 2015, 2013, 2012, and 2010. She has also been awarded Connecticut Coach of the Year in 2024, 2021, 2012, and 2008, and FCIAC Coach of the Year in 2024, 2021, 2012, and 2009.
Before becoming a distinguished coach, Woods played as an Academic All-Big Ten midfielder at Penn State, where she also served as an Undergraduate Assistant Coach. She currently teaches Health and Physical Education at New Canaan High School, marking her 19th year with the school system.

Coach McMahon

Coach McMahon grew up in Long Island, played at St. Anthony's  and with the Yellow Jackets.  She attended Bryant University, as a senior she was named All-NEC First Team ... All-NEC Tournament Team ... Two-time NEC Player of the Week ... ECAC Player of the Week ... 150+ career points ... 100+ career goals ... Started in all 19 contests at attack to guide the Bulldogs to their first-ever NCAA tournament appearance as well as the program's first NEC Regular-Season and Tournament titles ... Led the Bulldogs in points, setting a new Division I program mark with 63 ... Led the NEC and ranked 47th nationally in points scored.   After playing at Bryant she coached at St. Anthony's and on the club circuit with Long Island Express and Team 91. As the New Canaan Varsity assistant coach during the 2022 season, she was an integral part of the 2024 & 2022 FCIAC and State Championships. We are so excited to have Haley as part of the New Canaan coaching staff. 

Coach Straus

Coach Straus grew up in Martha’s Vineyard.  Where she was the first athlete to sign a National Letter of Intent.  Madison played for the Central Connecticut Blue Devils where she was named to the NEC all conference three years in a row. Also as a senior Madison was the award winner for the Nicholas E Collenluori Award at the Hofstra Headstrong tournament. Madison was a four-year starter for the Blue Devils as a midfield/defender.  After graduating Madison went on to become a certified personal trainer. She became part of the New Canaan Girls Lacrosse program as a high school varsity and youth coach in the spring of 2017. After 5 very successful years with the NCHS program, she was named 2021 CT Assistant Coach of the Year.

Coach Nicholas

Coach Kat Nicholas played lacrosse for Wilton High School and then at Lafayette College. Post college, she volunteered for LEAPS lacrosse in Philadelphia, PA and played on an adult club team.  She has always been very involved volunteering at the youth level throughout high school and college, she has coached the last 6 years for New Canaan. Coach Nicholas has been a teacher in Westport at the middle school for 10 years and we are excited to have her move to Saxe Middle School this fall.

Coach Sheeran

Coach Sheeran grew up in Westchester, NY.  She was a 4-year varsity lacrosse player for John Jay High School and went on to play at Fairfield University. This is going to be her 8th year coaching with the New Canaan Lacrosse program. During the 2019 season the JV team went undefeated.  Coach Sheeran’s dedication and enthusiasm for the game brings our program to the next level.   She is currently a Social Studies teacher at Bedford Middle School in Westport.

Coach Vincent

Coach Kat Vincent is a Wilton native and Warrior stand out. She went on to play with Washington College where she was named 2016 All-Centennial Conference first team. Additionally, Vincent was a 2x Centennial Conference Offensive Player of the Week and Shorewoman of the Week. She currently holds the school record for Single-Season Free-Position Goals.  Coach Vincent has been coaching with Gold Coast Lacrosse the past 7 years and is currently the Freshman Head Coach at New Canaan High School
